Evening in Tokyo

Hi Everybody, it's been a long time since I updated this blog. I went to Tokyo, mainly to Akihabara, to feel the atmosphere of the capital.

The main purpose was to have dinner at this Chinese restaurant that was near Ochanomizu station. The name of this restaurant was Sekkomon (石庫門). I've had an eye on this for a few weeks.

The taste was really good. It was so good that I felt like visiting it for a second time. This is fried chicken. I could choose spiciness and this was the least spicy one.

When I got out of the restaurant I could see this Christmas tree lit up. Too early for the holy day? I think so too.

On my way back I could see these pretty trees with illuminations. You can see this on the street in front of UDX building in Akihabara.

I took this pic in the morning. Do you know the anime Space Battle Ship Yamato? Its new movie is due on December 6. Here is its link. This was its ad on Sofmap.

The night before this day a big earthquake hit Nagano prefecture. I was concerned about my acquaintance but no deaths have been reported so far, for which I'm thankful.

Itasha (痛車) in Akihabara

Hi, let me show you two pics of Itasha (car with anime artwork) that I took in Akihabara the other day. Mostly the streets of AKihabara are really congested and there are many patrol cars watching us. But sometimes you get surprised by the boisterous sounds of Itasha roaring past you.

I don't know who those girls are, and even though I'm familiar with anime I'm only 50% correct about the girls on Itasha.

A bit rare one. Itabike. Oh, I forgot to tell you but "sha" is written as 車 in Kanji. and it means car.

Rokurinsha (六厘舎)

Hi, it's finally the season of my favorite area Akihabara. It's because "Aki" means fall in English, and it's when you can walk about in this anime area without sweating. But I went to Tokyo last week to have a kind of Ramen "Tsukemen" that was available in Tokyo station.

When I go to Tokyo I can't avoid Akihabara because the terminal station of the TX line is Akihabara. I had some coffee in this area before going to Tokyo by way of the Yamanote line.

You can come from Akihbara station to Tokyo station in 3 minutes by train. And this Ramen shop "Rokurinsha" is on the first basement floor of Tokyo station. It is written "六厘舎".

This is a Tsukemen that is reputed for its taste on the Internet. It is quite normal for people to see the reputation online before visiting a restaurant. I was kept waiting in line for 1 hour. The taste was really good. But I didn't feel like waiting that long for a second time as there are good Tsukemen shops in Akihabara such as Yasubee

Rhoto×Hatsune Miku

Hi I was in Akihabara yesterday and I took this pic which was on the wall of an isle around the station. There is a pharmaceutical company called ROHTO, and it's now selling an eye-drop "digieye" in collaboration with Hatsune Miku.

What's funny about this eye-drop is that if you read the URL of this merchandise via your smartphone and put it over the package of the eyedrop you can see Miku dancing and singing through the camera of your smartphone. Below is a video of how it works.

How did you guys spend your summer vacation? Hope it was fun.

GABA

Hi I came to Akihabara for a second time this month. Let me show you a pic of rice  balls and miso soup, which you can eat at a restaurant called GABA in Akihabara. You can choose two rice balls of this set from a dozen on the menu. The price was about 5 Euros.

A day in Akihabara

Hi everybody, I came to Akihabara as we Japanese are on the first day of the summer vacation "Obon".

I didn't expect there would be many people as Tokyoites go back to their home towns during Obon. It was mildly hot, about 30 degrees Celsius.

The Gundam at the entrance of Gundam Cafe had been changed.

The number of foreign tourists has been on the increase, about which I'm happy, but our government has to come up with measures to make the number larger such as hiring much more bilingual guides.

A Japanese perfume

Do you know the Japanese soccer team is called Samurai Blue? And this Samourai was named after it. I bought two bottles and it smells of a touch of charcoal. Anyways I like it so much that I put it on everytime after taking a shower. ^^

Sumida River Fireworks Festival 2014

I uploaded a video of today's festival. Take a look and feel the atmosphere. This show is one of the three most renowned fireworks festivals in Japan. I could see foreign people enjoying themselves. Some were from Asia and others would have been from Europe. I wasn't going to see this in the morning but I changed my mind, which turned out to be nice.

A lit-up Tokyo Sky Tree

The backdrop of the fireworks was pretty too!

The fireworks!

The show has begun!

An evening in Tokyo

I'm now in Tokyo. It has been ages since I updated this blog. A fireworks show begins in an hour. This is near the venue, Tokyo Sky Tree!
